Jim Kennedy has more than 30 years of experience and is well versed in all aspects of the electrical industry. Jim’s career has had a focus on “mega” projects that relate to power generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy sources. Projects such as the Neptune HVDC Submarine Cable, the Cross Sound HVDC Submarine Cable and Sunrise Off-Shore Wind are examples of the projects that Jim has been involved in.
As Chief Estimator with Haugland Energy Group Jim is responsible for managing a group of estimators during the preparation of proposals and bid submissions for all the major utility companies along the eastern seaboard and the US Virgin Islands. In his role he is responsible for the client relationships and the pursuit of all major infrastructure projects that the Haugland Group performs. Jim works closely with different clientele, from public agencies and commercial developers to private business owners, to help them achieve their project goals and visions. His mission is to provide exceptional service, innovation, and leadership in aspects of the electrical construction field.
In addition to his work at Haugland Group Jim is deeply involved with the Long Island Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Jim has been part of the Board of Directors for this association since 2018. He currently holds the position of Vice President for the chapter and has been part of the negotiation of multiple collective bargaining agreements. He has been a Management Trustee for the Local 25 Health & Benefit Fund since 2019. Within the NECA chapter he has been a trustee for the Electrical Industry Board since 2023. Jim is also on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Chapter of the US Green Building Council. On the board he helps a group of industry leaders promote sustainable building practices and environmental stewardship across Long Island by transforming the way building and infrastructure within our communities are designed, built and operated.
