Brian Kenny

Brian Kenny serves as the Senior Director of Engineering and Facilities at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, where he plays a central role in supporting the operations of a 591-bed Level 1 trauma center. With more than 15 years in healthcare facilities management and 25 years of prior experience in facilities maintenance and powerplant operations in a major cold-storage organization, Brian brings a uniquely broad and practical perspective to the field. 

Over the course of his career, Brian has developed deep expertise in facility maintenance, construction management, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and vendor relations, along with extensive experience leading both union and non-union teams. His technical foundation includes specialized knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and large-scale cold-storage infrastructure—skills that have proven invaluable across complex operational environments. 

Brian has led several significant capital initiatives, including the delivery of a state-of-the-art ammonia refrigeration central utility plant and the ground-up construction of a 120,000-square-foot refrigerated storage facility. At NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, he oversees daily engineering and facilities operations and plays an active role in coordinating more than 100 ongoing infrastructure and capital projects, ensuring they support organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and long-term planning. 

Beyond his work in healthcare, Brian contributes to public safety and community leadership as a Commissioner of the Jericho Fire District and as a former Captain of one of the district’s Engine Companies. His combined experiences in emergency services and facility management have shaped his approach to leadership—one grounded in safety, operational readiness, and proactive risk mitigation. 

Brian brings to the industry a commitment to creating safer, more resilient, and more efficient environments, along with a deep appreciation for the people and systems that keep complex facilities running.
